FLC Meeting - September
Stadium Announcements
The quality of the sound system at the KC Stadium was questioned at our August meeting. Consequently a full audit has been undertaken on the system. The results were that the wired system used for safety announcements etc is in full working order. However, the roving microphone system (used for pitch side announcements) experiences problems when working with the current system. It would appear that the best way to improve the current system is to add additional speakers to certain areas of the ground, which would allow the current volume to be reduced and improve the clarity. Quotes are currently being taken for the required work.
Replica Shirts
One member asked if the clubs policy is to change the playing kit each season. The Chairman explained that this would be the policy as it is at most other football clubs.
Away Direct
Away Direct members expect to receive the best possible seats for away fixtures. The Ticket Office do provide the best seats to Away Direct members whenever possible. However, at some grounds this can be very difficult as the tickets are released in blocks as they are sold.
Ticket Prices
One member asked what the plans are for ticket prices at the KC Stadium in the future. The Chairman explained that he will need to look at average attendances at the club for a period of time before he would make alterations to prices. Fans of future campaigns and localised incentives will continue at a few fixtures each season to allow children to experience the match day experience at the club.
Smoking
One member asked if a smoking pen would be considered at the KC Stadium. While the club cannot write off any changes to the current smoking policy, at some stage they must make it clear that there will be no changes to the current policy in the near future. The current policy is very straightforward and easy for supporters to understand. Problems with supporters smoking in the toilets has been noted and will be monitored.
OWS
Members on the Committee agreed that the current club website is not user friendly and is difficult to navigate. Although most agreed that the content is good, the general feeling was that the template used was far too complex for people requiring basic information.
Chelsea Tickets
Members discussed fair ways of allocating tickets for high profile games such as Chelsea. The Chairman explained that because the tickets had to be sold in such a short space of time the club had done all they could to make sure the tickets were sold to the right people for this fixture. The club plan to install a reward scheme in the near future, which will make future allocations much easier.
Tiger Travel
One member asked if any special travel packages were planned for supporters using Tiger Travel this season. It was explained that a special offer is always given each season to Tiger Travel regulars and this season will be no exception. Another member asked if we could arrange for the car park lights to be switched on when the coaches return to the KC Stadium. This was agreed.
Walton Street Car Park
Members feel that supporters still have a long wait to leave the car park after a game and would like to see some improvements. The Chairman agreed to discuss the matter further with the Stadium Manager and update members at the next meeting.
Kiosks
Members feel that the waiting time at the catering kiosks is unacceptable. One member asked if token schemes had been looked into for speeding up queuing times. The Chairman agreed to discuss this matter further with the caterers.
FLC
One member asked if the Committee should have suggestion boxes for people who do not have access to the internet. The Committee agreed that although most people are now online, supporters should be able to drop their suggestions for the Committee into the Supporters Services office on match days.
Sponsorship
Two members of the Committee complained that they had sponsored players last season and did not receive a renewal for the package this season. The Commercial Director apologised for the confusion and will investigate the matter further.
Gemtec
One member queried why some of the replica shirts are branded with Gemtec on the reverse of the shirt and some are not. It was confirmed that the replica shirts are manufactured without Gemtec branding, and that supporters need to request the branding if they would like it on their shirt.
South/East Corner Seats
One member asked if the missing seats in the Southwest corner of the ground could be easily replaced for high profile fixtures. It was confirmed that these seats can be replaced for such fixtures. These seats are left out as the Sky screen is positioned in this area of the ground for rugby fixtures, and if our next fixture is not a sell out then it makes sense to leave the seats out. However, if they are required they will always be replaced. Next season it is hoped that Sky will use the screen in the North Stand.
Fixture Change
One member asked what the plans are for our home match versus Ipswich if a rugby play-off fixture clashed on the same date. The Chairman explained that the kick off time for the Ipswich game could change but the date will remain the same.
Sports Bar
Members felt that Paul Duffen and players speaking in the Sports Bar worked well and should continue whenever possible.
Internationals
One member asked if there are any international games planned at the KC Stadium in the future. The SMC would like to host international events, however the diary for the stadium is very busy. An international rugby league test is to be held at the KC Stadium in November.
Scoreboard
The new scoreboard is working very well and is improving with each game. A frame will be added to the screen before our next home game and will include four sponsors' logos.
Railway Plaque
The Chairman is keen to recover one of the two original Hull City railway plaques, however so far it has proved difficult to recover either one. The club will continue to try and recover one of the plaques.
Old Replica Shirts
One member asked how last seasons children's shirts have been used. The Chairman explained that many of the old replica shirts have been given to charities across the world.
TV's
Some members complained that TV's were turned off in some areas of the ground after the Stoke game.
Club Presence
The Committee agreed that the club does not have a strong enough presence in the city. Members felt that we do not advertise our upcoming home games around the city. Members agreed to come back with cost effective ideas to improve awareness around the city.
