FLC - December 2007
Catering
EMC Ltd. operate the catering at The KC Stadium.
The meeting was attended by two representatives of EMC. John Coulson (General Manager) & Neil Stewart (Public Catering Manager).
Some members of the committee feel there is a lack of vegetarian options available from the kiosks. Currently the pizza pod and the cheese & onion pie are the only choice for vegetarians. Jacket potatoes are another option which is currently being investigated.
Why can't we sell chips? We do not have the fryers or microwaves on the concourses and (as a safety issue) the risk is considered too high.
Members feel that the Lager is always pre-poured but not Bitter. At the moment Lager is outselling Bitter at a 4 to 1 ratio.
Pricing: A member feels the prices are too expensive. EMC were keen to point out that prices are set in line with all other similar events and do not feel they are expensive in comparison to other clubs.
Members are frustrated with the amount of time it can take to be served. Why can't supporters pre-order drinks or purchase tokens in advance? The catering manager will investigate these options further.
Members have noted the mobile pitch side units as an improvement for match day queuing. However the drinks hawkers have not been seen in the stadium and the committee asked why? The hawkers are present on match days however the hawkers can only sell 20 drinks at a time and have to re-stock regularly.
A member asked why we do not sell cider on the concourse. There is not enough demand for draught cider but a brand cider plastic bottle is currently being discussed.
Some committee members feel that many of the concourse staff do not speak clear English which can be a problem. A high percentage of the matchday staff are foreign students and agency staff. EMC have regular recruitment evenings and advertise locally for work.
Various complaints regarding the temperature of the hot food were made. All of the hot food sold has to be heated to a safe level.
The committee asked, what is the relationship between the club and EMC? The club receive a form of commission on turnover from EMC Ltd
The committee felt strongly that the kiosks need to have a greater Hull City presence. At the moment supporters are purchasing from a grey concourse which they would like to see branded with more black & amber, such as branded beer glasses and Hull City flags and clothing on the kiosk.
Members feel that we only sell fatty foods, can we not have baguettes or salads? Various healthy lines and wine have been available for some time. Members felt that various product lines are available but supporters are not aware due to the lack of advertising on the kiosk. A plan is in place to install black boards for better advertising.
Coffee needs to be available in The Sports Bar as agreed previously.
A member asked if we can make supporters in the kiosk queues aware when product lines are sold out? The staff do try to move stock around the kiosks on a match day to improve stock levels at each kiosk. There is a manager in each individual stand.
A member asked if any franchise or separate company has approached us to set up kiosks at the stadium? The catering manager explained that we have not received any enquiries.
Ball Boys
A supporter had raised a complaint regarding the speed of the ball boys. The majority of the committee felt that they are fine and the same as everywhere else we travel.
Playing Kit
A member asked if we can wear the home kit whenever possible.
Park & Ride
A member felt that the amount of buses available after home games is insufficient and asked if we can do anything to receive more.
E-mail
Two members of The FLC have had ongoing problems with their e-mail address and details in the matchday programme. This will be checked and improved.
