FLC Minutes - February 2007
Police
One member of the Committee had worked at the Leeds Utd fixture with the Police and explained how the operation went on the night. He was told that the Police had been asked not to wear the full riot clothing, and avoid standing in the North/West corner of the stadium. The Member felt that the exercise had worked well and both parties have benefited.
Members raised concerns regarding the policing at the Leeds game. Should the club create a charter of how we wish to be policed? Supporters are increasingly unhappy with the treatment received on match days at the KC Stadium and would like to see certain guarantees or a code of conduct agreed with the Police. The Fans Liaison Officer will relay the message to the Divisional Commander Sean White.
Leeds United
One member asked why the constant standing of the Leeds fans is tolerated and how it can be allowed to dictate the capacity that they are allocated at away games.
Ticket Prices
An area of the stadium will be available at a budget price for supporters next season. Season ticket prices will be discussed in much greater detail at the next FLC meeting in March.
Argyle Street Walkway
Problems with the lighting and the amount of litter were again mentioned.
Perimeter Parking
The problem with people leaving their bays on the perimeter of the stadium bowl before the crowds have dispersed was again raised. Cars driving through pedestrian traffic are extremely dangerous and have to stop. All vehicles should remain parked until the crowds have cleared.
Walton Street
Problems leaving the car park after games were again discussed. The Committee agreed that 30 - 40 minutes waiting is to be expected after an event with an attendance of 20,000 plus. However the Committee would like to be updated on any future developments such as road closures etc.
Special Offers
One member of the Committee has noticed special offers that have been in place at the food kiosks at recent home games. The club's Commercial Director was asked if the offers would be a regular occurrence. The answer was yes the offers would appear at various fixtures throughout each season.
Scoreboard
Mistakes regarding the team and personal announcements were noted on the scoreboard at the home game versus West Bromwich Albion.
Announcements
The Committee strongly agreed that the announcement at the game versus Leeds Utd regarding the attendance was inappropriate. The Committee also feel that the stand announcements is becoming tired. The Committee again asked if the post match announcements can be held back to allow the crowd to show their appreciation.
Music
The Committee agreed that the pre-match music loop needs to be freshened up regularly.
Players Warm Up
One member mentioned that the players should warm up in front of the South Stand. This had changed earlier in the season when the players had warmed up over at the North Stand.
Casino
The Chairman feels that the chances of the casino site being at the stadium are slim, as the town centre seems more likely at this time. The SMC would however like to develop the land behind the South Stand with a hotel and conference centre. It is unlikely that the development would include additional capacity to the stadium.
Away Allocations
The feeling of the Committee was that the away allocation must be 10% of the capacity for away supporters. However this does not always seem to be the case.
The rules state that for a normal league game 10% of the stadium capacity should be allocated to away supporters and 15% would normally be provided for cup games. However clubs may go to their safety group for any necessary alterations.
Sports Bar
More offers should be available in the Sports Bar. The Committee feels that the membership price needs to be reviewed. More problems with the big screen were mentioned but the problem seems to be lighting in the bar rather than the screen itself. The members would like to see a greater variety in the speakers in the bar. The Chairman agreed to attend the bar on a match day before the end of the season.
QPR Team Coach
One member raised a complaint regarding the location of the QPR team coach post event.
TV's
The regular issue of concourse TV's being turned of after the game was again discussed.
Season Pass Prices
Will be discussed in length at the next meeting.
