Brown Remains Cautious
Phil Brown says he's taking nothing for granted after watching the Tigers take a 2-0 lead from their Championship Play-Off Semi-Final first leg against Watford on Sunday.
First half goals from Nick Barmby and Dean Windass mean City are in a strong position going into the second leg at the KC Stadium on Wednesday night, but having experienced the agony of the Play-Offs before, Brown isn't getting carried away and admitted he was slightly disappointed his side didn't win by a bigger margin.
"It's still all to play for in my opinion," said Brown.
"I know from my own experience as a player how a 2-0 lead can become a 3-2 defeat at home.
"I'm not taking anything for granted and the third goal of the tie will be massive.
"I must admit I'm a little disappointed. For me to say that after winning 2-0 is astounding, but I did say to the players that I was disappointed not to have got a third.
"We could have won by three, four or five goals and that would have killed the tie completely.
"We've now got another 90 minutes to play and it's going to be one hell of a game.
"There will be no complacency on our part. The key to our changing room is the experience we have in there.
"Nick Barmby and Dean Windass are Hull boys playing for Hull City and they will be guarding against complacency.
"The captain will be guarding against it, as will Wayne Brown and the backroom staff.
"There is some great experience in that changing room and nobody will be allowed to take their foot off the gas."
Brown praised the contribution of hometown duo Barmby and Windass and also singled out Boaz Myhill, who produced several superb saves to preserve the clean sheet.
"I know Dean and Nicky will get the headlines for scoring, but I thought the defence were magnificent and our goalkeeper was outstanding.
"Boaz showed why he has become an international this season. I take my hat off to all of them for keeping a clean sheet."
