Join The Party As The Tigers Roar Into The Play-Off Final
Hull City Council and Hull City AFC invite fans and residents to join in a huge celebration in the city centre on Bank Holiday Monday - 26th May 2008.
The event, organised by the council's events team, is to mark the club's fantastic achievement of reaching the Wembley Play-Off Final and - win or lose - making football history for Hull.
The festivities kick off at 2.00pm with an open-top city bus tour which departs from the KC Stadium arriving at Queen Victoria Square at 3.00pm. Full details of the route can be found by clicking here. Events get underway in the city at 2.30pm with KCFM's Steve Jordan warming up the crowd from the City Hall balcony.
At 3.30pm to 4.30pm, BBC Radio Humberside's David Burns will welcome the team one by one on to the balcony and fans can listen to interviews with manager Phil Brown, chairman Paul Duffen and the players. Viking FM's Sam and Mark will play the crowd out and the event will finish with an impressive pyrotechnics display.
After all the excitement, a number of lucky fans will even be able to join the team for the player's reception and buffet inside the City Hall. Look out for ways to win your VIP tickets in the Hull Daily Mail, and on BBC Radio Humberside, KCFM and Viking FM.
The Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hull and Admiral of the Humber says: "We don't want to pre-empt what will happen at the final on the 24th May and it goes without saying that the whole city will be cheering the team on at that important Play-Off match at Wembley. But no matter what the result, we can all be very proud of the Tigers and their amazing achievement in the Championship which has given the city great national exposure. They deserve nothing less than a civic celebration and we are sure that City fans will relish an opportunity to show their appreciation for the team."
