The Tigers registered another 4-0 victory last night in their second pre-season friendly against Winterton Rangers and Sam Ricketts believes it was another good workout for the team.

Second half strikes from Geovanni, trialist Delron Buckley, John Welsh and Joe Lampough handed Phil Brown's side a convincing victory to banish the memories of last summer's 3-2 defeat at the same ground.

"The lads moved the ball well in both the first and second half although the goals came in the second half," he said.

"It was a good workout for us though which can only benefit us in terms of getting our fitness back.

"It was a good game to be fair. We were unlucky not to come in three of four goals up at half-time.

"But their keeper played a bit like Gordon Banks to keep us out in that opening half - fair play to him for that. They kept going all the time and never made it easy for us.

"As I say, it was a good workout and generally the lads are feeling quite fit this year," he added.

"It might be because of the fact we just played 35 minutes per half in the opening two games but we've gone into the games feeling good.

"I think we'll start playing longer halves now to increase our match fitness and sharpness."

The Tigers' opening two pre-season friendlies has seen Ricketts feature at left-back instead of the right-back role which he has occupied since his arrival at the KC Stadium.

Despite the positional change, it hasn't been a case of unfamiliar territory for the Welsh international.

"I played at left-back for a few years during my time at Swansea but I've not done it on a regular basis for a while.

"Since I came to the club, I've predominately played at right-back. I don't know if the gaffer is thinking of changing things but I think it's just a case of putting two XI's out on the pitch. I'd be happy to play anywhere for a game."
