Tigers' boss Phil Brown welcomed three new faces into his squad this morning and was understandably delighted to add George Boateng, Tony Warner and Peter Halmosi to his list of summer acquisitions.

"This is a fantastic day for Hull City Football Club and a lot of hard work has gone into getting the three lads here," he said.

"We've broken our transfer record to sign Peter Halmosi, and although the fee will remain undisclosed it is in excess of £1m. George Boateng has cost £1m and he's a Dutch international who has had more than ten years at Premier League level and that's the kind of player I've been looking for to bolster our existing squad.

"And last but not least, we've also brought Tony Warner in and he arrives to give us a bank of three keepers who can all play at Premier League level which is great for us. They're now in a race for that number one spot and from my point of view, let the race begin!"

Halmosi has long been linked with the Tigers after turning in several impressive performances against the club during his time at Plymouth Argyle and Brown is delighted that he'll be wearing the black and amber shirt for the next four years.

"Left-footers are priceless," he added. "Left-footers with pace and who can go past people, get a cross in and provide balance to the midfield are even more priceless. Peter also has an eye for goal and although he's only played at Championship level in this country he has played at the highest level back home in Hungary and we believe he can play in the Premier League.

"He's also an exciting player and is similar to Geovanni in that he likes to play football and with those two plus the likes of Nicky Barmby, Dean Windass and others, we have players in the squad who can play football."

While Halmosi brings pace and creativity to the squad, Boateng brings a wealth of top-flight experience to the club that Brown regards as 'priceless'.

"The club captain, Ian Ashbee, has played in League Two, League One and the Championship for this club and now he's going into the Premier League. He's going to play alongside the likes of George (Boateng) and watch him in the pre-season friendlies and Ash will learn from that. Even Ash at 31 years of age will be learning from George, as we all will be just to see how it's done at that level.

"He breaks play up, he stops the opposition from playing and also protects the centre-halves and the goalkeeper and we need that in our team next season."
