Warner Delighted To Join A Club On The Up
Tony Warner admitted as soon as he heard about a possible move to the Tigers, it was one he was interested in straight away.
The 34-year-old custodian completed his free transfer move yesterday and revealed he is already looking forward to the start of new season.
"There were a few rumbles about the move a few weeks ago and then it was firmed up last Friday," he said.
"It's a move that I was interested in right from the start and it's great to be joining a club who are on the up.
"I watched the Play-Off Final last season and there are some good players here and with the club having never been in the Premier League before there'll be a buzz around the place all season which will be fantastic. So I'm looking forward to that and being based back up north is also an added bonus."
Warner is one of six new faces in the Tigers' squad and he's impressed with the caliber of player that manager Phil Brown has brought in thus far.
"I've played against both George Boateng and Peter Halmosi and they're good players," he continued. "The other signings the Gaffer has made also look to be solid, quality acquisitions and they've been added to what was already a good squad. It's exciting and I've got a good feeling about it all."
The former Fulham stopper will be competing with Bo Myhill and Matt Duke for the number one slot and he's determined to stake his claim before the big kick-off.
"I should imagine that Bo is in the best position at the minute but I'm after his shirt. Every footballer wants to play and if you didn't want to then there'd be something wrong with you.
"I'm just looking forward to working with all the goalkeepers and seeing how far we can push each other to improve. I like to train hard and as best I can every day. If people want to take something from my game, then they're more than welcome.
"There are two good goalkeepers at the club already and I'll be trying to learn things from them."
