The Tigers will be fielding another strong side this evening with Hungarian international Peter Halmosi set to make his debut in the friendly at Chesterfield.

The former Plymouth midfielder didn't travel to Ostende with the rest of the squad last weekend, but manager Phil Brown will be pitching him into the fray tonight.

"Peter Halmosi will be playing for the first time and Bernard Mendy, George Boateng, Geovanni and Craig Fagan will all be starting the game," he said. "Because of the shortage of defenders at the club, Liam Cooper will be involved again and he'll play alongside Michael Turner in the first half with Wayne Brown coming on for the second 45 minutes.

"Again, in the main, we're trying to get to the 65 or 70 minute mark for the whole squad between now and the Oldham game. Then when we get to the Hearts and Osasuna fixtures we'll be endeavouring to get two or three games into the entire squad and we'll probably have to arrange two or three games behind closed doors so that everybody does get two or three full run-outs.

"I'll not change the full eleven in the second half at Chesterfield tonight and it's not about football or tactics at the moment. It's just about who can get to 65 or 70 minutes and at the minute in that boat you've probably got Michael Turner, Sam Ricketts, Dean Marney, Craig Fagan, Dean Windass and Geovanni.

"We'll have a look at that tonight and if they do play 65 or 70 minutes then they'll be on the bench on Saturday and we'll try to get 90 minutes into them by the end of next Tuesday."

Brown has already gone on record as saying that the fitness levels of his squad will play an important part in their Premier League campaign and he's more than happy with where his players are currently at.

"They're probably ahead in terms of sharpness and with the ball there's no doubt in my mind that we're ahead of schedule," he added. "But we've got to hit the ground running and come August 16th we've got to make sure that everybody is up to speed in terms of the physical side of the game and also in terms of the mental side of things.

"I've certainly been impressed with the way we've developed in terms of using the ball and at the minute it's a case of trying to get pictures of how different combinations may work. We're trying to get two quality players for each position which will be important to our squad next year. Picking the right winning team will be important to our squad next year as will getting the right winning mentality. So there's a lot of things that we're looking at and working on at the moment."

With six new faces already added to the squad, the City boss is working on at least two or three more deals and should he succeed in completing those then there may be one or two departures in the near future.

"If we end up having brought in nine or ten new faces to add to the quality that we've already got at the club then it might be time for one or two to move on if they feel as though they may not get an opportunity to play in the first team next season," he said.

"That would be their decision in the main, but also after the first three or four games have passed and we get to the close of play in terms of the transfer window then we may add one or possibly two more faces before the end of August."
