HULL CITY RESERVES 1 DARLINGTON RESERVES 1 - 1/5/08
Hull City Reserves wound up their season with a 1-1 draw against Darlington at Church Road on Thursday night.
Once again Steve Parkin reverted to an inexperienced line up consisting of juniors and first year professionals. Of the City starting eleven only Matthew Plummer, James Bennett and Will Atkinson remained from the side that won 2-1 at Rotherham in the previous game.
The Tigers started brightly with Anthony Hilton having a shot blocked after Brewster Frizzell had headed on Jamie Devitt's corner and Devitt then flicked the ball narrowly wide when he met Nathan Hanley's cross from the left.
City then created a great chance, which actually came from a Darlington corner. Devitt began the move on the edge of his own box and Hanley and Hilton were also involved before Ryan Kendall was sent racing clear but he struck his right foot shot wide of the post.
Another opportunity came the way of Kendall in the 34th minute and this time he made no mistake from Atkinson's pass to shoot past Quakers keeper Nick Liversedge.
Devitt and Hanley then worked a short corner with the former driving in a shot which Liversedge took diving to his right.
Devitt then took an Atkinson pass on the right and advanced to the edge of the box before unleashing a right foot strike, which was parried away for a corner by Liversedge. Frizzell headed over from the resulting corner.
The Tigers twice went close to adding to their lead just before the break. Devitt curled a low free kick around the Darlington wall and Liversedge had to push the ball round the post for a corner.
From Devitt's corner, Frizzell headed down, Atkinson laid the ball back and Plummer fired a shot over the bar.

City had the first chance of the second period when Joe Lamplough's long ball was headed down by Kendall and Atkinson fired wide but the visitors were level in the 49th minute.
Josh Gray crossed from the left and Ben Hallam could only fumble the ball into his own net.
The Tigers replied with Bennett driving a shot wide from Devitt's short free kick, but both sides then struggled to create any real openings.
Kendall had a shot deflected wide and Devitt fired past the post when Tom Cairney's corner was only cleared to the edge of the box.
A driving run from Devitt ended with a left foot shot being deflected just wide and the final chance also fell for the Irishman but he shot straight at Liversedge after Cairney and Kendall had created the opening.
